We teach solutions for real-life moments. Here’s the breakdown of the dances we teach and when you’ll actually use them:

1. The Office Holiday Party Survival Kit: Foxtrot, Waltz, Swing

This is high-stakes dancing. Live band, boss, boss’s boss, spiked eggnog.

The Instant Fail: Doing that side-to-side shuffle while clutching your drink like a life raft. Or worse, attempting breakdance after one eggnog.

The Win:

Start with Foxtrot. It’s literally a walking dance. Conversational, classy, and 90% of holiday standards are Foxtrot-able. You look polished without trying too hard.

Then when they play something upbeat, switch to Swing. Single-time Swing is easy to teach someone in 10 seconds, which means you can invite your coworker or that high-level executive for a spin and you instantly become “the fun one.”

If they slow it down? Waltz. Box step, rise and fall, you look like you took lessons as a kid. You didn’t. We won’t tell.

2. The Date Night Dances: Rumba, Bachata, Tango

These are the ones that actually make you better at being a couple.

Rumba is slow, it’s close, it’s the “we actually like each other” dance. It’s easy, works to almost any slow song, and it’s number one for weddings for a reason.

Bachata is Rumba’s cooler, more modern cousin. Same closeness, but with that little hip-pop. Great for Latin radio and country ballads that got a remix.

Tango is when you want drama. It’s not about being lovey-dovey, it’s about being memorable. Sharp, staccato, intense eye contact. The couples who learn Tango don’t argue less — they just argue more interestingly.

The science even backs it up: sustained touch releases oxytocin, shared learning creates vulnerability, and leading/following is literally a masterclass in communication. You come for the steps, you stay because you actually look forward to an hour with no phones.

3. The “Top 40 and The DJ Won’t Stop” Dances: Salsa, Cha Cha, Merengue, Hustle

Merengue is one of our favorites. If you can walk in time, you can Merengue.

Salsa is Merengue with espresso. High energy, lots of turns, works for 50 years of Latin hits and every modern pop song that sampled them.

Cha Cha is the flirty one. You can’t be grumpy doing a triple step. It’s scientifically impossible.

Hustle is your disco insurance policy. When the DJ finally gives up and plays Donna Summer, you won’t be stuck doing the lawn mower.

4. The Country Bar Final Boss: Country Two-Step vs. Country Swing

This is where we need to have a talk, because these two get confused and they are NOT the same dance.

Country Two-Step is the road trip.

It’s the most iconic country dance. Quick-quick-slow-slow, and you TRAVEL. You move counter-clockwise around the floor in a big circle, navigating traffic with other couples. It’s smooth, it’s gliding, it’s built for boots. The footwork is flat, not bouncy — because cowboy boots were not designed for tiptoeing.

You learn Two-Step because it lets you dance to 80% of country music. If you know nothing else, you can still stay on the floor all night.

Country Swing is the parking lot party.

Country Swing is stationary. You don’t go anywhere. You stay in one spot and spin.

The footwork is simpler than Two-Step but then you get to add all the fun stuff: dips, wraps, pretzels, the tricks you saw on TikTok.

5. The Secret Weapons: Nightclub Two-Step and West Coast Swing

These are the dances you keep in your back pocket.

Nightclub Two-Step is how grown-ups slow dance. Not swaying, not middle-school shuffling — an actual pattern that looks good to Ed Sheeran, country ballads, and anything slow that isn’t a Waltz.

West Coast Swing is what you dance when the music isn’t clearly “ballroom” or “country” — it’s blues, R&B, Top 40. It’s slotted, smooth, and very cool. If Salsa is the extrovert, West Coast is the introvert who still gets all the dances.

So Which One Should You Start With?
That’s the trick — you shouldn’t start with a dance. You should start with where you actually go.
Tell us: Are you trying to survive holiday parties? Are you trying to reconnect with your partner? Are you trying to own every country night within 20 miles of Ponte Vedra?

Nobody comes in wanting to master the Quickstep.
