What our customers say
Absolutely incredible instructors and dance lessons! They are very personable and make you feel comfortable no matter what dance level you are at. Would recommend to anyone who is looking to take any sort of dance lessons, they are the best!!!!
Damian managed to coach me in a Waltz through the Art United fundraiser in Alma, Michigan. For those of you that know me, this is truly an accomplishment against all odds. At that time, getting up on stage to dance in front of an audience was the most terrifying thing I could think of doing, but thanks to Damian it was a wonderful, memorable experience my wife and I will always cherish. Please consider Arthur Murray Toledo for all your dance instruction!
I had my first dance experience with Damian a few years ago, and it remains one of my best memories. He made learning to dance genuinely fun and engaging. He breaks down each move slowly and clearly, making everything easy to understand—even for someone like me who never thought I could dance at all. He also creates a comfortable, welcoming environment that helps you feel less awkward and more confident, which meant a lot to me since stepping out of my comfort zone can be hard and nerve‑wracking. I’m truly grateful for his patience, his teaching style, and the joy he brings to every lesson. I’m so happy he was my dance instructor.
We had fun learning to dance and spending time together. Relaxed atmosphere and instructors are there to help, with no judgment at all. Much appreciated for beginners who don’t really know what they’re doing.
Damien is one of the nicest and most upbeat people I know! If anyone can crush opening a new studio it’s him. I had the pleasure of meeting him at Flamingorama this past year in 2025 and he literally gave me his shoe laces since mine broke mid competition. If that doesn’t show you how amazing of a person he is I don’t know what will! Highly recommended!
This was a great studio for creating a custom wedding dance! Highly recommended.
Great host, fantastic teacher, held our hands through the first lesson. Always attentive to our needs
I had the pleasure of working with Damian for a couple of years, and I can confidently say he is an exceptional dance instructor. He is not only highly knowledgeable, but also incredibly creative, with a real talent for matching choreography to each student’s skill level to produce polished, high-caliber performances. What truly sets Damian apart is his teaching style—his explanations are clear and thoughtful, and he brings so much patience and encouragement, especially when guiding you through the most challenging steps. He creates a supportive, confidence-building environment that makes learning both effective and enjoyable. I was genuinely disappointed when I moved away and couldn’t continue training with him. West Coast Swing and Argentine Tango were my personal favorites—those experiences really stand out—but he is outstanding across all styles. I wholeheartedly recommend Damian to anyone looking for a skilled, trustworthy, and inspiring dance professional.
My future bride and I are currently taking lessons with Damian and are having an absolute blast. He makes it fun and keeps it light while providing awesome instruction at the same time. We’ve got so much more confidence dancing now.
Any student that walks into Arthur Murray Toledo will be in great hands under Damian’s leadership. He is a vibrant, passionate, and caring human being. I am so excited that he is bringing the Arthur Murray lifestyle to the residents of Toledo.
Damian is an amazing instructor. High energy, kind, patient, talented and always on time.
Great instructors. Damien is very knowledgeable and very accommodating to different learning styles. Gareth is also a great instructor and very personable. Would highly recommend the studio in its original ad Monroe Street as well as their new group studio that is forming for anyone looking to Learn to dance or who wants a fun date night
Damian is great! I hope to dance at the studio again in the future.
My fiancé and I were hesitant to sign up for a few classes for our upcoming wedding, but I’m so glad we did. The experience has been better than we expected. The instructors are kind, patient, and explain everything clearly so we actually understand what we’re doing. We had no prior dance experience, and they’ve made learning feel easy and fun. It’s also been such a great bonding experience for us. We’re both surprised by how much we enjoy it. It’s truly something we look forward to each time. Highly recommend giving it a try if you’re on the fence!
This dance studio is a wonderful place to be! My fiancé and I are taking lessons from them for our wedding dance and we are not dancers but have been able to learn well with how they are teaching us. Would highly recommend!
My fiancé and I have been taking dance lessons here for our wedding, and it’s been such a fun and special experience! The instructors are patient, encouraging, and make every lesson enjoyable. We’ve gained so much confidence and shared a lot of laughs along the way. Highly recommend!
Had a wonderful lesson with Damian. He took the time to explain the dance moves as well as making sure we had fun.
It was on my bucket list to take ballroom dancing lessons after I retired. As luck would have it there was an Arthur Murray studio within 5 miles of my home. Damian was my instructor for my free trial lesson. The lesson was so enjoyable that I ended up taking lessons for seven years. Damian is a ball of positive and creative energy, very encouraging and patient. The dance routines he created made learning dance steps fun. Besides the primary benefit of exercising in a fun way, the secondary benefit is of socializing with a supportive group of people with a common interest. The atmosphere in the studio is like being in a close knit family. I encourage anyone who wants to have fun, laugh, and meet a whole new group of people to take dance lessons.
AMDS-Toledo’s Dance Director, Damien Sanderson is my former ballroom dance instructor, whom we. first met when my husband gifted me with dance lessons several years ago. Both my husband and I were *brand new to ballroom* though we’re both older trained dancers (him: jazz, Broadway; me: ballet, jazz, contemporary, tap, & African). And though we had danced on stage together as partners (Kismet), we had never trained in “hold” or “frame” in this form of partnered dancing. Damien was both our couple’s coach and my individual instructor, and his organic style of instruction immediately meshed with my introverted personality. He understood that I wanted to learn the form of dance, literally from the ground (floor) up, generalizing technique when possible from my former dance experience, while acquiring a whole new dance vocabulary, physically and mentally. My focus was on learning the how and why of each dance form, not “performing” or presenting, or dancing with anyone but my hubby. From the first lesson, I knew Damien was laser-focused on teaching ME in the way that fit my learning style and needs. Damien *got* me — drew parallels between different ballroom styles vs ballet/ jazz techniques, carefully explained footwork so that I knew how to feel the floor, painstakingly breaking things down – the balance shifts, the compression into the floor, the shaping and port de bras, polishing and finishing movement. But, he *got* my husband, too — a gregarious big personality “let’s do it!” guy. Damien’s ability to *read* us both AND coach us in the moment was nothing short of magic. Eventually we worked with other Florida AMDS instructors, each with his/her own unique coaching style, and they too were experts in their genre. But the DNA of my ballroom (Tango) and my Latin (Rumba, West Coast Swing, ChaCha, Argentine Tango) can all be traced back to Damien’s grounding me in Arthur Murray Dance. P.S. Dancing is fun and Damien is wicked funny! This Florida girl’s loss is Toledo, Ohio’s great gain! Wishing you all the very best in dance, always! D², former student of Damien Sanderson

No, you don’t need a partner to learn to dance. At Arthur Murray, you can learn to dance on your own or with someone special. Whether you are a single, couple, or have a partner that isn’t interested in learning to dance, you are welcome to join us and learn. We have a great community of dancers and a welcoming environment that includes all types and ages of people.
While our instructors dress in business attire, our students wear a variety of things: anything from jeans and a t-shirt, to work attire, to getting all dressed up for a night out of dancing. For shoes, just make sure you wear something that won’t slip off your feet while dancing. Ballroom dancing shoes are not required.
It totally depends on how quickly you learn, how good you’d like to become, and how many dances you’d like to learn. Just to learn a few basics only takes a handful of lessons. To be comfortable dancing to any music with any partner, that takes about 6 months to a year. After your first lesson, your instructor will be able to recommend the quickest way to get to your dancing goals.
We teach everything you can do with a partner! Ballroom dancing encompasses all styles of partner dance including, but not limited to traditional ballroom like the waltz and tango as well as latin, swing, country western, and many other styles. Visit our What We Teach page to learn more.
Your first visit to the school gives you a chance to check out the studio facilities, experience how we teach, and make sure that it’s an atmosphere you feel comfortable learning to dance in. It’s also a chance for your instructors to see how you learn and make recommendations to give you the best service possible. Even if you’ve never danced before, you’ll be dancing on your very first lesson.
